Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Department
EMT department is launched in 2008 E.C in our college as an independent discipline by professionals of other departments with special TOT by ministry of health Ethiopia. From the very beginning the department starts delivering different emergency related courses for more than Thirty five (35) students for two academic years and graduate them with level –III EMT students. and those level III graduated students functions as emergency professionals in different health institution and later on they came to upgrade their level and graduated as L-IV EMT professionals.
The department begin teaching learning process with limited number of professionals who had no emergency background but had training about the department which are five (5) in numbers. The department with its limited emergency professionals it graduates more than 132 EMT professionals in the past five years.
Currently the department develops its staff profile with Six (6) professionals with emergency background from the above professionals Two of them are BSC emergency and critical care nurse (ECCN), One MSC emergency medicine and critical care nursing (EMCCN), Three of them are diploma graduate level IV EMT professionals and other two public health professionals and one BSC Nurse with the total of Nine instructors participating in teaching learning process.
Currently the department continuing its training with Two batch students totally Eighty Six(86) in number both at school and in industry or clinical site .
